About Me

I returned to full-time practice after a long period of teaching. Looking back at my earlier life as an exhibiting artist, I realise now that what matters to me is not ‘making it’ in the art-world, but rediscovering the quiet flow and connection with the actual-world that I felt when engaging with art. I’m less interested in where art might take me than in what happens while I’m making it.

Influenced by Zen, I approach my work as a form of contemplation, with less concern for ego and ambition, and more for feeling and openness. So, art is not a product but a process of discovering relationships, chance and interconnectedness.

My work, when it is going well, unfolds as a conversation between myself, my materials, and the world, as a cloud exists in relation to the sky.
